Dogs pitcher shines for Team USA
CARY, N.C. — The Citadel's Asher Wojciechowski, making his international debut, struck out eight batters in 5 2/3 innings while pitching for the United States national team as the Americans beat Canada, 9-3, at the National Training Center on Monday. The win completed a five-game series sweep over Canada for the U.S.
Wojciechowski, who just completed his sophomore collegiate baseball season, allowed two runs on three hits and walked two in his stint. He is the only Southern Conference student-athlete named to the 22-man Team USA roster for this summer's competition.
