Wojciechowski to start for Team USA

Citadel pitcher Asher Wojciechowski will start for the USA Baseball national team as it continues its series with Canada today.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Cary, N.C.

Team USA has won the first four games of its five-game series with Canada. After the series with Canada, Team USA will play a four-game set with Guatemala before heading to tournaments in Japan and British Columbia.

Meade going independent

Citadel outfielder Sonny Meade will sign with the Gateway Grizzlies of the independent Frontier League, a school official said Sunday night.

Meade, an all-Southern Conference pick from Stratford High School, batted .397 with five home runs and 67 RBIs for the Bulldogs last season.

The Grizzlies are based in Sauget, Ill., and are one of 12 teams in the Frontier League. Gateway is currently fifth in the West Division.

, but is second in the league in attendance, averaging 3,973 fans per game.
