Potato chip bag draws black bears
Monday, June 29, 2009
NAGS HEAD, N.C. — Two black bears living in coastal Dare County have become so accustomed to being fed by humans that they respond to the sound of a potato chip bag being crinkled.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk, Va., reported that officials say the bears go on the highways that cross the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge to eat food that's either litter or intentionally thrown at them.
Refuge biologist Dennis Stewart said the crinkle of a potato chip bag will get the attention of both bear.

Hey Post and Courier, the real story here is about the dangers of feeding wildlife, both to the public and the animals themselves. Odds are that these bears will one day be put down, all because people cant resist feeding wild animals and throwing food out of their car windows. I would like to suggest that you think about becoming a respectable news source by reporting on how situations like this could improve.
