Three G's

Slow Food Charleston is hosting a "Farm-to-Plate" picnic 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Thackeray Farms, 1364 Harts Bluff Road, Wadmalaw Island.

Bring your own picnic dinner, beverages, plates, utensils, along with blankets or chairs. Rain or shine. While there, you can tour Thackeray Farms, get your copy of Holly Herrick's newest cookbook, "Southern Farmers Market Cookbook" or satisfy your sweet tooth at an American pie auction hosted by Mitchell Crosby of JMC Charleston.

The cost to attend is $10 for Slow Food members and $20 for nonmembers. Anyone age 18 and under gets in free.

This is a fundraiser for the Sanders-Clyde Elementary School organic garden.

Very 'tasteful'

McCrady's executive chef and 2008-09 James Beard Rising Star Chef nominee Sean Brock is gathering four top chefs from Charleston and the surrounding areas to create a six-course menu paired with exquisite wines for Share Our Strength's "A Tasteful Pursuit" on July 14.

Funds raised from this dinner and auction will support Share Our Strength's efforts to end childhood hunger in America.

Brock will be joined by chefs Mike Lata (FIG), Ken Vedrinski (Trattoria Lucca), Tyler Brown (Capitol Grille, Nashville) and R.J.Cooper (Vidalia, Washington, D.C.).

McCrady's is at 2 Unity Alley. Tickets for the dinner are $95 per person. Reservations can be made by visiting join.strength.org or by calling Andrea at 888-273-6141.

Going hunting

Locally owned Dog and Duck in the Belle Hall Shopping Center on Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant is thanking its customers for eight years of business on July 17 with a complimentary buffet at 5:30 p.m. Look for a jump castle for the kids, games, prizes and live music from 9 p.m. until midnight.

Closed/opening

Pane E Vino patio

Every Wednesday, Pane E Vino, 17 Warren St., downtown, will offer a happy hour menu from 5-7 p.m. with $5 items, special price wines by the glass and live music on the patio. Call 853-5955.

YoLo

Tristan's first "YoLo Event" (You Only Live Once) will take place July 26 and will feature a "Midsummer Night's Dream" theme.

It will be a fusion party with the artist Joan Dumouchel of Martin Gallery, interpretative dance from Ballet Performers, fashion from Beba Luxe and a jazz DJ. Ticket prices begin at $30. Contact angela@tristandining.com. Tristan is at 55 Market Street.

Rue rolls back

Dine-in

Savory Market and Sushi by Rhett joined culinary forces a year ago. Now, it is offering dine-in services for sushi or lunch along with its full-service catering operation. Open Tuesday through Saturday until 3 p.m., it can be found in the Terrace Shopping Center at 1956 Maybank Highway. 762-3338.

Happy first

Celebration is the order of the day at Huck's Lowcountry Table. Take advantage via special prices on beer, wine and entrees. Huck's is at 1130 Ocean Blvd., Isle of Palms. Call 886-6772.

Decked out

High Thyme and Cafe Medley on Sullivan's Island now share an expanded deck complete with outdoor seating and umbrellas. Also: Station 22 added a 600-square-foot deck.

Dishing the dirt

Food Arts Magazine (June 2009) features "Dirt Chef" Sean Brock in an article penned by John Kessler of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The article will have you wanting to backhoe your front lawn and plant some Jimmy Red, Sea Island red peas and chioggia beets.

Muse specials

Don't worry, get happy at Muse Restaurant and Bar's with its June bar features such as $5 Mojitos and Dark and Stormys every night, 5-7 p..m. Muse is at 82 Society Street.
