Zoller, Liebler capture golf tournament titles

Taylor Zoller, of North Charleston, who last weekend won the Jimmy Self Festival of Flowers Junior Golf Title in Greenwood, added another championship Wednesday when he won the boys' 15-18 age group in the eighth annual Mount Pleasant Junior Golf Open at Patriots Point Links.
Zoller, a rising junior at Fort Dorchester, had a two-round total of 7-under-par 137. Ryan Cavanaugh finished second at 148.
Other age group winners included: Girls' 15-18 — Katherine Coeyman, 190; Kristen Cario, 197. Boys' 13-14 — Connor O'Rourke, 147; Julian Keur, 150. Girls' 13-14 — Ansley Vaughan, 183; Savannah Hallman, 262. Boys' 10-12 — James Wilson, 85; Michael Glennon, 85. Girls' 10-12 — Kate Harper, 101; Molly Park, 102. Boys' 8-9 — Drayton Stewart, 74; Joseph Keene, 99.
Liebler triumphs
Steve Liebler of Irmo won his fourth Santee Amateur championship last weekend, shooting a bogey-free final-round 67 to finish at 137. Michael Assey of Mount Pleasant was second in the Championship A Flight at 71-73—144, while Liebler's son, Chase, finished third at 68-77—145 and Holley Wallace took third with a 70-77—147.
Nick Avery of Goose Creek won the seniors division, rallying from seven shots back with a 68 and then won a three-man playoff with Bob Varn of Orangeburg and Gary Loebs of Conway.

Senior Championship — Gary Loebs, 146; Bob Varn, 146; Gary Bennett, 148; Oren Wood, 148. Senior First — Nick Avery, 146; Johnny Graham, 149; Warren Peper, 153; Ralph Linderman, 154. Senior Second — Jack Pratt, 156; Terry Lamb, 162; Bob Gifford, 164; Bobby Pierce, 165.
McGladey Championship

HJGT in Myrtle Beach
Blake Maull of Charleston finished third in the boys' 13-15 age group of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's Myrtle Beach Junior Open, shooting 81-81—162. Wil Sheppard of Mount Pleasant was third in the boys 10-12 age group, shooting 92-88—180.
Golf League
