Sunday openings
Mercato is now open on Sundays. New hours are 5-11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5 p.m.-midnight Friday-Saturday. Jazz fans will want to check out the jazz lineup. Mercato is at 102 North Market.
Extended hours
Sunday brunch is now served 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Wild Olive on Johns Island. During June and July, Wild Olive is offering a two-course special for $15. Choose a soup or salad, a brunch entree and either a mimosa or Bellini.

Beer dinner
The folks at The Glass Onion have partnered with the Charleston Beer Exchange to produce a six-course dinner paired with appropriate craft beers. Dinner is $60; beer pairings are $30. New GMs
--Holy City Hospitality recently announced that Basil Theologus has joined the staff at Virginia's On King as general manager. Theologus had been employed by sister property, Rue de Jean on John Street. Virginia's is at 412 King Street.
--John Lister, former executive chef at Harvest Moon Lowcountry Grille has been appointed general manager. James Sload has been named sous chef. Harvest Moon is at 6165 Savannah Highway in Ravenel.
Not so 'mellow'
The Mellow Mushroom downtown will close on Tuesday to allow for the installation of new equipment that will allow them to keep up with our appetite for pizza. It will reopen for normal business Wednesday. Mellow Mushroom is at 309 King Street.

--Golden Cup Cafe, in the Johns Island Shopping Center, 3575 Maybank Hwy. (559-2727), features house-made pastries, desserts, focaccia, quiches, sandwiches, soups and salads as well as Italian gelato. Its brunch menu is offered Saturday and Sunday. Hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday; and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.
--Turtle Tracks Gelato and Coffee, in the Market at Oakland, 1165 Oakland Market in Mount Pleasant, serves gelato, coffee drinks, breakfast, lunch and desserts. For more info, call 884-9446.

Oink, a barbecue restaurant located at 3563 Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant has closed.
Wine tasting
Join the folks at Caviar & Bananas for a Pinot tasting complete with paired appetizers tonight, 5:30-7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 and reservations are required. Call 577-7757. Caviar and Bananas is at 51 George Street.
Happy news
A new happy hour bar menu has been launched at Pane e Vino. Expect a $5 bar menu, live music on the patio and special wines by the glass menu. Pane e Vino is at 17 Warren St.
Taste of Austria
Charleston Grill executive chef Michelle Weaver and sommelier Rick Rubel have created a multicourse menu showcasing the complementary flavors of four wines from Austria's premier winemakers.
The wines are represented by Terry Theise, the 2008 James Beard Award-winning "top wine professional in America."
Tickets are $100 plus tax and gratuity. This event takes place Wednesday beginning with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Call 577-4522 for reservations. Charleston Grill is at 224 King Street.
