BATESBURG-LEESVILLE - A special camp for South Carolina children battling cancer is celebrating its 30th anniversary this week.

More than 100 campers and 40 counselors are on hand for Camp Kemo at Camp Kinard near Batesburg-Leesville.

The weeklong camp runs through Friday and is hosted by Palmetto Health Children's Hospital.

Organizers say the unique camp designed for pediatric cancer patients and their siblings offers woodworking, swimming, arts and crafts and fair rides.

Organizers say monetary and in-kind donations allow kids to attend Camp Kemo free of charge.
