Dorchester County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting this morning at a Summerville-area nightclub.

The shooting occurred at Club NV, formerly Uncle Willie's Social Club, at 401 N. Maple Street in Summerville, Lt. Tony Phinney said.

As deputies responded to the scene at about 2:40 a.m., a Summerville Police officer was flagged down on U.S. 17A by a man who had been shot at the club, Phinney said.

Jamie A. Fernandez, 34, sustained a gunshot wound to his upper-thigh. He was taken to the University Medical Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Phinney said.

Phinney said the victim and several witnesses, some whom showed up at the Sheriff's Office, have not been cooperative with detectives.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Phinney at the Sheriff's Office at (843) 832-0300.

Bumpersticker asked: do most bloggers wait until facts are out or do they just start assumming?
After being here a while it seems the stories are the same old thing over and over again. The victim knows there will be no punishment for the suspect. If the victim talks, he will then have to watch his back really close. I had a freind killed while at a party and the police can do nothing to the killer even though we know their name and how it happened. It is too easy for criminals this day and age to get away with murder. There should be a death penalty for murder across the board.

Bumpersticker- read the comments on here and you will learn there are quite a few closed minded individuals that assume whatever they want for the day. Doesn't help that the P&C steers stories & headlines in over the top directions sometimes. There are a few (and I mean a few) of the comments that are actually worth reading.
