Woman killed after wreck on I-95

WALTERBORO — A woman died this morning after her car hit a tree in the median of Interstate 95 in Colleton County.

The woman was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt north on the interstate between milemarkers 51 and 52 when the car ran off the right side of the roadway at about 7:55 a.m., Lance Cpl. Bob Beres of the S.C. Highway Patrol said.

Beres said the driver over-corrected, causing the car to cross the northbound lanes and strike a tree in the median.

The woman's name has not been released.

Beres said the wreck is under investigation.
