Man surrenders to deputies in Camden stand-off
CAMDEN - A South Carolina man has been arrested following a four-hour stand-off with sheriff's deputies in Kershaw County.
Multiple media outlets reported Wednesday that 23-year-old James Jackson of Columbia is being charged with two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill.
Authorities say the stand-off began about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when Jackson cut his girlfriend with a razor during an argument. She was treated at a Camden hospital.
Officials say Jackson barricaded himself in a nearby mobile home. Sheriff's Capt. David Thomley says Jackson fired at a deputy, who was hit by some glass.
Jackson was captured after deputies fired tear gas into the home shortly after 10 p.m. He was flown to a Columbia hospital for treatment of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
