Charles Elton Fields, 41, of Justice Street in North Charleston, was charged with conspiracy and falsifying a police report. He allegedly drove the vehicle the gunman used to get away.

Police said last week that Sandra Davis, 46, of Hanahan, a clerk at the Amoco convenience store on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, intentionally allowed herself to be shot in the stomach during a staged armed robbery in July 2003.

A police investigation says it was Davis' son, Joshua Floyd, 22, also of Hanahan, who intentionally shot her and robbed the business. More than $6,000 was taken.

Davis' older son provided police with information that led to the arrests, authorities said.

Davis and Floyd both are charged with conspiracy and falsifying a police report. Floyd also is charged with assault and battery with the intent to kill.

Fields was described as a friend of Davis. He was taken to the Charleston County Detention Center.

Shooting one's own mother for $6K is pretty low end, even for this white trash crew. I've never asked her, but I imagine my mom wouldn't take a bullet for anything less than $1.3mil. :)

$6k wouldn't come close to paying for medical bills. But I guess if you aren't going to pay them anyway that is not a consideration. You keep thinking that the scum can't surprise you, that the low and stupid has already been reached, and then along comes a story like this.

I wonder how long it took them to cook up this brilliant plan?

Like I said before, it sorta makes me wonder what other things the mother-son team have done in the past. It is amazing they've made it this far in life, because all things considered, it seems they might be too stupid to live....& that also goes for the 3rd stooge they enlisted as the get away driver. Of course-maybe it was his plan to begin with--maybe he is the one with the "brains" (Ha!).

I agree. It blows my mind to read about people like this. I know some very intelligent, well rounded people who struggle to make it happen. Makes you wonder how people like this even live to be that age without ending up in an institution, or living under a bridge. I took 2 takes when I saw the street this guy lived on. At first I thought it was a joke. lol

This story is about a robbery in 2003, which would make the son 15 years old, how could a mother in her right mind have her 15 year old son to shoot her to commit a robbery. Oh yea she is not in her right mind, because a real mother would never go to that lenght for money. So much for a mothers love.

That poor kid never had a chance. A mother with that kind of criminal past, and at 15 she ruins his life by getting him involved. I know he is 22 now, but can't they charge him as a juvenile so that maybe he can start over with some sort of positive guidence in his life? I just can't believe that a mother would do that to a son. That poor kid.

It's about time the law of averages caught up with these trailer trash losers. That h** of a woman took my daughter for over $4000.00 and left her with a bunch of bills when she conned her into living with her. She'll play the sick act in a skinny minute to get her way. She's supposed to be dead three times over all ready. Hope they lock her and the rest of those losers up for along time. Just look at them, do you really think they are repentent. I know she ain't she's been scammin too long. GOOD RIDDANCE.

How can he be charged with assault and battery with intent to kill if she allowed him to shoot her. That's like charging a man for raping a woman who willingly got on top!

Larz13, ROFLMAO at your comment!

I'm sure that Davis didn't pay for her medical care - it would have been paid for by workers compensation, which also would have paid her while she was out of work and then (probably) a nice lump sum award.

I wonder if the story about these fine citizens of our state made the late night TV dumb crook news?
Great.
