BATESBURG-LEESVILLE - Christmas is coming early this year for some South Carolina children.

Monday is the first full day of events for deaf and hard-of-hearing campers attending Camp Wonder Hands.

The weeklong annual event at Camp Kinard near Batesburg-Leesville is hosted by Palmetto Health Children's Hospital.

Organizers say campers ages 7 to 17 will be celebrating Christmas in June, making holiday-themed arts and crafts and dancing with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

Camp officials say children are able to attend Camp Wonder Hands free of charge because of monetary and in-kind donations from across the state.
