Oasis Bar & Grill combines original live music with good drink specials
Along with the Village Tavern in Mount Pleasant, The Windjammer on Isle of Palms, and Tin Roof and Halligan's in West Ashley, The Oasis Bar & Grill on James Island is yet another venue that offers original live music on a regular basis.
I've seen plenty of bands playing different kinds of music at the Oasis, but in recent years the venue has carved its own niche in catering to metal, punk and indie music crowds. On any given evening, you might find the parking lot full at the Oasis, with no doubt live music as the primary attraction. Kallie Knight of Knight Booking has done a great job of scheduling acts that fit the venue well. All-ages shows, which are rather hard to come by these days yet so vital to the music scene, are also a regular feature at the Oasis.

Because it is in James Island, a significant number of locals have made the bar their home away from home and with some of the best drink specials in town, it's not hard to understand why. The Oasis features billiards, video games and most importantly - an easily accessible bar.
On my last trip to the Oasis I enjoyed local punk outfit Soda Pop Curtis, a Charleston band that originally formed in the late '90s and have recently reunited.
Sounding better than ever, it was only appropriate to see a group of guys playing music they wrote a decade ago at a venue that, for just as long, has thankfully continued to provide such artists a stage to do so.
