Motorcyclist dies after hitting tree
A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning in a crash in the Hollywood area of southern Charleston County, the coroner's office said.
Joseph Simmons, 39, died of blunt force trauma at the scene of the wreck, on Salters Hill Road. The 1993 Yamaha he was riding went off the road and struck a tree around 2:30 a.m.
Simmons was the only person involved in the crash. He was not wearing a helmet.
