If Jenkins lives and can't walk, at least he won't be kicking in anybody's door again, and if he dies, our tax dollars won't have to be used to keep him on life support or welfare. So it's a win-win...

I just want to point out that our local, self-professed whore, stephaniem, is white and she shot and killed her "friend" in her house. She claimed self defense and got away with it. All of the races have their scum.

It's not a race thing. No one gets up in the morning and says "I'm black, so I'm going to commit a crime". I take that back. White supremacist DO get up in the morning and think they can commit crimes just because they are white.

Regardless, it's not a race thing, it's a culture thing. Condemn the culture, not the entire race. Otherwise, you're no better than those you despise.

This shooting was justified. I doubt any of the people involved decided to get involved because they are black.

Why does race always have to be an issue? If there were no pictures of the assailants, would we know their race? Absolutely not. The issue here is not the race, but the fact that a crime was committed. These guys broke into her home, and regardless of rather is was her boyfriend's brother, sister, cousin, or whomever, she did what she had to do to protect herself.
I think anyone be they white, black, red, or green would have done the same thing. It's the 21st Century and as a young African-American man, I am so tired of people pulling the race card for every little thing. Race doesn't commit crimes, people do.

Yes, the majority of crime we're seeing is being commit by young black males. That is a fact. It is not a fact that they are commiting those crimes because they are black, young or males or that all black young males are going to commit crimes. I would love to see the Post and Courier, or even the police (if they can) release an article/statement that read like this:

Two accused perpetrators broke into a private residence in the North Charleston area. The homeowner/victim was at home and armed themself. Once the victim was fearful for their personal safety they discharged a handgun legally inside their residence in an apparent case of self defense. The two perpetrators were later apprehended at XXXXX, where one of the perps was bleeding and unconscious. The victim was not charged with any crime in the apparent self defense. The perps had(or does not have) prior criminal convictions. Good for the victim to not really be a victim.

Then what would people complain about? Well, besides the ACLU because total freedom of information wasnt achieved. If you want equal treatment strip names and race completely out of the situation. Make applications to colleges based on Social Security Numbers(or something of the sort) only. Remove all blanks for names, race, street address, or even pictures of the applicants. Go off of test scores, essays and recommendations in front of a blind board. Then a college application will achieve equality. Now what does a college application have to do with this? Everything...if you want equality, you have to take humans out of the equation. IF a human has nothing to base an opinion off of to judge a person besides emperhical(sp?) data..then you are as close to equal as you are ever going to consistently achieve.

Crime happens in all walks of life and has no boundaries of where, what, and by whom (race). This is the media, and they will report on those that will bring more people to read. I was a NCPD Dispatcher and BELIEVE ME when I say that LESS THAN HALF of the crime that REALLY takes place is REPORTED!! And those of you that feel that it is the blacks that's populated the majority of the crime will be SHOCKED! I only say this because I was just as shocked!

BTW - That MONSTER that killed that little girl is only named 'suspect' and was released out of the hospital today as well!!

Actually I believe that is the case INDIRECTLY, Not because of their genes or DNA. But, because the color of their skin has been given a pass for anything by society due to past injustices. Although it interests me to see the range of comments on this article, what is really amazing to me, as a resident of New York State, is how there was no question about the rights of this woman to protect herself. In NY, an investigation would have ensued requiring a lot of bureaucracy, adding to the stress of the victim. I wish people would realize that the world is made up of tribes and clans. It always has been and always will be. The difference in people is what separates us into our tribes/clans. Color is just another factor for separating. That is reality. The fact that most shootings(black on black) involve black males under the age of 25 is reality. That is like saying just because our prisons are filled with a majority of black men leads to the conclusion that white men are not jailed as often. No!!! most crimes are committed by black men. Also you have your facts wrong, black men do not commit the most crimes, not even the most violent crimes, the rate is "proportionally higher" for black men but saying that is just inaccurate. Black men are also proportionally a greater prison population than white or hispanic men this is completely true, but saying it is a majority or "most" is just flat our false. Please check the FBI Crime statistics for confirmation before you start making broad-based false statements.

And yes I reserve the right to call the usual racists racist when they say blatantly racist things. I don't care who doesn't like it. While it is no secret that the recent stories are about black people committing these crimes, is that really the issue? We are all human beings before we are a man or a woman or black or white. The issue is why, as human beings, people have such blatant disregard for fellow human beings. As for those who choose to make comments that can be taken as racially offensive, you are no better than the people who are in these news headlines...the only difference is you use callous words to inflict hurt and pain on your fellow human beings.

Not all black people are descended from Africans, and not all white people are descended from Europeans. You might have a black Cuban-American and a white Australian-American.

So yes, outrage, it IS a culture. It's a nationality. It's words that are misused. Isn't Dave Matthews a white African-American?

I think it's safe to say that almost all black people rather they be Latino, American, Caribbean or European DO descend from Africans. Black Cubans certainly do. It's true that they can't all immediately trace their heritage back to a specific country but yes almost all people that are black (notice the distinction from african-american) are at least partial descendents of Africans. Clearly.

I have to wonder why I jump into the muck and mire that is the comments section of the Post & Courier.

Someone mentioned that I may have some perverse need to be "heard". Another said that I'm such an egoist that I love to see my words published online. Still yet someone called me just plain crazy. Maybe they're all right or perhaps wrong.

Whatever the reason, on occasion I jump into the fray feet first and hope for the best.

Here it goes...

There are those who WANT to see racism and bigotry behind every post. They want to be able to last out at "Whitey" just because: These are the same people who are just plain ignorant about what racism and being a racist truly means and take every offense as something targeted at their skin color or ethnicity.

Conversely you have some posters who use every opportunity they can to knock down minorities; especially when an article such as this one seemingly gives them license to denigrate an entire race of people.

Oh they say they have Black friends or family members, but the 'proof is in the eating of the pudding'.

When you have articles reference White crime or criminals (few and far between I'll admit) the crickets are chirping.

You guys know who you are and no amount of sanctimonious indignation on your part can mask what you are.

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANY MIDDLE GROUND ON THIS SITE AS THOSE OF US WHO TRULY WISH TO DEBATE CANNOT LOWER THE BAR SET BY LOGIC AND INTELLIGENCE LOW ENOUGH TO CONVERSE WITH THOSE WHOSE ONLY MISSION IS TO DEBASE THEMSELVES AND THOSE THEY HATE.

there is no pattern, or high percentage of our population killing each other... with whites being over 3/4 of the population if percentages were the same we'd be reading about whites killing each other every other hour

yet we rarely hear of it within a whole year, unless you look outside this area like one poster resorted too and even that was dated... that's why crickets are chirping

out of hundreds of millions of people you expect to hear of a real wacko every couple of months or so... but out of tens of millions we shouldn't be hearing of dozens of murders daily across the nation but a minority race, so people pipe up when a problem is this large in a certain faction of our population

you don't want to see this daily? stop doing it daily... actions/reactions and reactions get more deliberate as those actions continue to compound

it's the compound effect, not an opportunity thing as some would have you believe

and then we find out they are ALL a bunch of thug dope dealing bums, compounds it even further

12% does over 80% of the crime and you expect people not to jump on it when they see it continue to get worse in one particular race

let your people drop that to at least 12% doing 12% of the crime and all this would go away, you reap what you sow...

asking other races to not notice or speak up about the obviously lopsided crime stats is ridiculous to even entertain... you don't want your race stereotyped? stop the crimes that continue to create that stereotype... which btw isn't a stereotype at all, it's a fact

if a high percentage of Mexicans make and eat taco's people assume they will eat taco's... not because of their race or color of skin, but because it's what so many do... action...

if we see black men killing and robbing each other everyday, we expect it will continue and will label them for their actions... and will be much more alert when black men are following us

you are what you do, and only your people can make this go away

Johnson has convictions for trespassing, disorderly conduct, marijuana possession and discharging a firearm, his record shows. The P&C and the Police have this all wrong. the above men are from a good Christian home,the picture of the two are photos taken at their church so that people would know they sing in the choir.:) Also to think they arrested the victims for guns and drugs.Cant be true these are true community citizens who are also good Christians,hard working,tax paying people,who are not on welfare and living the life of crime. Cant be :)... Scumabg one and all. Can you guess who going to pay for homeboys medical cost?

Since the issue of the use of the term African American has come up I will touch on that topic. President Teddy Roosevelt once stated

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

In other words there is no such thing as African-American European-American or any other combination. You are either American or you are not. By hyphenating your status you only cause for the divide in our country. I have friends of all races and to me, they are simply AMERICANS.
