Woman faces charges after shooting burglary suspect
By Andy Paras
The woman who shot a burglary suspect inside her house Wednesday is in jail after police say they found drugs and loaded guns in her home, all within reach of her 3-year-old son.
North Charleston Police charged Willette Denise Cooper, 22, of 5437 Ott Street with unlawful conduct toward a child. She is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center on $15,000 bail.
Police also charged Cooper's boyfriend, Theronne Jenkins, with unlawful conduct toward a child, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine with a half-mile of a school.
Police say Cooper shot Jenkins' brother, Myron Maurice Jenkins, early Wednesday morning after he and another man kicked her front door in and went through her mobile home.
An incident report says officers found crack cocaine and a small baggie of marijuana lying on the floor, along with multiple guns.
Officers also found a silver handgun inside a shoe on the floor, a 9 mm handgun, a loaded revolver in a nightstand and Cooper's loaded, 380, which she kept in a coin bank next to the right side of her bed, according to an incident report.
The report says the loaded revolver and an unspent round were found next to her son's small bed on the floor next to her bed.
Cooper's son was put into the custody of her mother.
Myron Jenkins was listed in serious condition at the Medical University Hospital after police say he was shot. Police charged Brandon LeVar Johnson, 22, of Charleston with 1st-degree burglary. Police say Johnson drove the getaway vehicle.

If there was a way to charge $1,000 per bullet we would have fewer murders. Since people don't believe in gun control, let's control the bullets.

Can anyone out there tell me if there is ANY part of North Charleston that isn't a sociological toilet?! Man, what a great excuse for the use of a neutron bomb!

USC, don't get the gun control thing started. It's a losing battle for people against guns. They're is no logical arguement against people legally owning firearms to protect their home.

USC...let's get rid of guns!! Yeah. SHall we then move to knives? Then to rope? Then to ALL freakin Bridges? Then to Rocks? What next? Don't say that there's no tie-in to the progression of projected events. In the 1700's, who would have thought we would get rid of the Death Penalty, freed the slaves (oooooohhhhhh), get rid of that horrible hanging thing, then firing squads.......then the electric chair. Now it's unfair if you commit the crime and your injail.....and your black. Crime is now disproportionate. None of you folks make a dang bit of sense. Oh.....and after the left got rid of those horrible ways to die.....they lobbied for and got the leglaization of abortion!! Get real!

So much for the {CASTLE DOCTRINE}. There is always three sides to every story. Man, I'm so glad that I did not make a comment on one of the original posts on this story. And yes, I HOPE that the child is safe!

I don't have a problem with someone shooting in self defense. It looks like all the perps did us a favor - the cops got a three-for-one!
Great work by the LEOs.

Great work by the LEO's?
"An incident report says officers found crack cocaine and a small baggie of marijuana lying on the floor, along with multiple guns. "
This wasnt rocket science, just a stupid perp that forgot to clean up after a shooting.
Great work by LEO's would be to close the crackville trailer down before any blood was shed. As for North chuck, it should just be walled in, then all the dirtbags can shoot it out in what many regard as the armpit of the state of SC.

I guess you think if guns were outlawed all the drug dealers and killers would just turn their guns in . What a joke !! Guns protect the hard working law abiding people from the trash you just read about. break into my house he'll be leaking badly . Guns = protection for the good guys.
