Sprinkler system extinguishes fire
A fire involving mineral spirit solvents ignited Monday afternoon at a North Charleston business, but the company's sprinkler system extinguished the blaze before firefighters arrived, authorities said.
The fire began at Salisbury Electrical Safety Co. on Azalea Drive. North Charleston Fire Department Battalion Chief Teddy Smith said the sprinklers were effective, and the fire could have been much worse. A piece of machinery might have overheated and ignited the mineral spirits, fire officials said.
One of the company's employees was taken to Medical University Hospital for observation, said Bianca Sancic, the Fire Department's public information officer. She said it was not clear why the employee required medical attention, but the employee appeared to be OK.

It used to be North Hand Safety. Either way, rather ironic. At least it had a sprinkler system that worked and nothing got out of hand...
