Buzz, buzz! State's beekeepers hold annual meeting
CLEMSON - South Carolina's beekeepers are gathering to get the latest buzz.
Beekeepers from around the state are descending on Clemson University on Thursday for the summer meeting of the South Carolina Beekeepers Association.
The meeting begins in the afternoon with an intermediate beekeeping course.
Topics for workshops planned for Friday include Africanized honey bees, honey bee queen issues and protecting bee colonies from bears.
Beeswax and honey competitions are also on the schedule.
The association says about 2,000 beekeepers in South Carolina manage approximately 25,000 honey bee colonies.
