CBT's Bastille Day Celebration at Fish

Fish Restaurant and the Charleston Ballet Theatre are joining forces for a Bastille Day celebration Tuesday.

The event will feature live French music, entertainment by several of the CBT's female performers, a $6 French bar menu, specials on Pernod & Absinthe drinks, a $35 Lyon-inspired prix-fixe menu, Petanque (the French version of bocce ball) and more.

It all begins at 6 p.m. at Fish, 442 King St., downtown.

Fish and the CBT also are joining forces throughout the theater's upcoming season. Fish restaurant will be hosting an exclusive "meet the dancers" after-party following Friday and Saturday night performances of "Decadent Divas," "Rocky Horror" and Motown Mania.

Lowcountry Local First's 10 Percent Shift Launch Party

Nonprofit group Lowcountry Local First will be holding its 10 Percent Shift Launch Party at 7-10 p.m. Friday at 10 Storehouse Row, Navy Yard at Noisette in North Charleston. The event is designed to promote the grass-roots campaign to promote independent, locally owned businesses.

The party at the Navy Yard will feature live music with Part Time Heroes and Shifty Videos by The Cut Company. Food will be available to purchase from The BBQ Joint, Taco Boy, Monza and Street Food. Palmetto Beer and Firefly Vodka will be available.

Morimoto at Eye Level Art

A night of punk, jazz and art is coming to Eye Level Art's new 103 Spring St. gallery on July 17. Charleston band Morimoto, consisting of musicians Gerald Gregory, David Linaburg and Nick Jenkins, will perform two sets; the first in 103 Spring St.'s back courtyard beginning at 6:30 p.m., and a second indoor set beginning at 8:30 p.m.

During the night, guests will also enjoy live painting by local artist Angela Chvarak, along with large works by various Charleston artists. Finger foods will be provided by Maya Morrill. Beer and sangria will also be available.

Tickets are $10 in advance, available through eyelevelart.com, and $15 at the door.

Village Playhouse musical continues through July 18

Midtown/Sheri Grace Productions has brought back their award-winning musical "Reefer Madness: The Hit Musical" to the Village Playhouse. The show is directed by Ryan Ahlert, with musical director Robbi Kenney. Performances are at Village Playhouse, at 915 Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant.

Performances are 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, through July 18; and at 5 p.m. July 12.

The original film was meant as a cautionary tale to keep young people away from marijuana. Over the years the movie's exaggerated acting, ham-fisted dialogue, one-sided viewpoint and medically questionable storyline turned it into a cult favorite of grade-B movie lovers.
