Awendaw Green pulls out all the stops for its 'Grass on the Green' benefit
You won't have to pull any strings to get into this weekend's bluegrass benefit.
Emily Lynch is one of the many performers at this weekend's "Grass on the Green" show in Awendaw. Lynch's debut EP, "A Little More," is available on iTunes.
Over 30 musicians at Awendaw Green's "Grass on the Green" will do that for you. Nonstop music on the barn and porch stages noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will keep you entertained throughout 30-45 minute sets.
"It combines great music, food, people and pets in an event that builds lives," said Awendaw Green owner Eddie White.
"This is one of the strongest displays of local talent this year in the Charleston area and will bring many musicians together in a spirit of giving back to the community. Our hope is that music loving folks come out to share this spirit. The connections made are long lasting and meaningful."
Proceeds from the $20 weekend tickets will benefit the Windwood Farm Home for Children on Saturday and Pet Helpers on Sunday. Attendees can also purchase a one day pass for $15. For those who just can't get enough, respectful overnight camping is welcome.
"Windwood Farm Home for Children is a child centered, family focused therapeutic environment dedicated to healing at-risk youth and families traumatized by the effects of abuse and neglect. It is located in Awendaw just a few miles from Awendaw Green," White said. "It is as local to Awendaw Green as it can be, and its mission embodies all that is healing and good for youths and families alike.
"Pet Helpers is a unique organization that focuses on the needs of homeless animals," he continued. "Pet Helpers answers over 20,000 calls a year to aid animals and has a 24-hour-a-day rescue program. They are committed to no-kill sheltering, required spay, neuter and adoption policies and deserve all the support the community can give them."
Saturday's performances are by The Corduroy Road, Emily Lynch, Red Top Ramblers, Kurly Wolf, Ware Shoals Boys, Bob Jennings & Sons, Flatland Express, Guilt Ridden Troubador, 17 South Bluegrass, Classic Woodies, Gove Shrivenor, Spanish Moss, Henry's Attic, Green Levels, Poppa Futch & Son, Woodwork Roadshow, Flatt City, Lauren Bevins
On Sunday, the lineup includes Shannon Whitworth, Mark Bryan & Greg Humphreys, Triple Lindy, Ed Hunnicutt, Hollow Reed, Mac Leaphart, Kentucky Shoes, Little Friday, Doug Jones, Radio Pirates, Milhouse, Danielle's Owles, Chewbacky, BBQ Brothers, Po' Ridge, White Rhino

"Awendaw Green connects people to worthy causes through music and the giving musicians that make it possible," said White.
"Awendaw Green was founded by a group of people who enjoy local music, musicians and worthy causes. We are a full service recording studio music compound' and know many local bands that would love to plug into any event large or small. We have a dedicated group of volunteers and supporters and would love more!
"I am almost certain that Chili's and On The Border will help us cater the event and our favorite local brewery, Palmetto Brewery, will donate the suds," said White.
