Housing agencies install energy efficient lights

They call the project "Let There Be Light" and the effort will save thousands of dollars for public housing agencies in Charleston.

The City of Charleston and the Charleston County Housing and Redevelopment Authority announce Tuesday the agencies are using federal stimulus money to buy 7,000 compact fluorescent light bulbs for public housing units.

The lights cost 75 percent less to power than conventional light bulbs.

That should mean big savings for the agencies that operate about 1,800 public housing units in the Charleston area.

Let the welfare scumbags that live there pay for this stuff. Why are the taxpayers always paying for something that these scumbags should pay for?

Do away with HUD, DSS, DEHC and watch 100's of billions saved. There is so much Fraud in those three agencies.

Give the citizens who are out of a job due to the economy not by choice and simple laziness the darn light bulbs! They get a free place to stay and it stays light out until 9pm. After dark they are out committing crimes anyway...
