Beef recalled from S.C. Save-A-Lot stores including Charleston, Goose Creek

Monday, July 6, 2009

Nine Save-A-Lot stores across South Carolina, including two in the Charleston region, received beef recalled last month because it was possibly tainted with E. coli bacteria.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Saturday released an expanded list of 2,100 stores that received the 380,000 pounds of beef recalled by JBS Swift Beef Co. A short list was released Thursday.

According to regulators, the Save-A-Lot stores in South Carolina that sold the recalled beef are in Charleston, Goose Creek, Aiken, Columbia, Greenville, Inman, North Augusta, Spartanburg and Sumter.

No illnesses have been reported in South Carolina.

The St. Louis-based company said customers can return the following cuts produced April 21 for a refund: sliced eye of round; choice sliced inside round; bone-less shoulder roast; boneless shoulder steak; and sliced peeled knuckles.

The two local stores are at 1604 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in West Ashley and 215 N. Goose Creek Blvd. in Goose Creek.

Who the heck would buy that crap? Inside round? Meanwhile- this junk was recalled last month. Do you freeze your knuckles or does it have a 45 day shelf life?

Have you seen what a Sav A Lot looks like? If you buy meat from that nasty place, you deserve what you get. Filthy, filthy, filthy. It is about as sanitary as Doschers.

London Broil comes from a inside round and a peeled knuckle is a sirloin tip untrimmed. Most beef comes from the same beef companies in the mid west however sav a lot is a dump like Doschers.
