Allnightkungfu at A Dough Re Mi

It is always nice when the local music community gives back. Tonight the local blues music hotspot A Dough Re Mi in Mount Pleasant is using the occasion of the birthday of Stuart "Allnight" Johnson to host a food drive. The drive benefits East Cooper Meals on Wheels, and the blues-rock band Allnightkungfu will be rocking the Dough's stage. Described as having a sound more like that of Soundgarden than the Grateful Dead, fans of Allnightkungfu will be able to see the band at a very special price.

Admission to the show is $5 or two cans of food. The venue is in the Sea Island Shopping Center, which just happens to have a convenient grocery store nearby. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. tonight.

The Blue Dogs at The Windjammer

Charleston boasts an impressive number of bands, but few have attained the legacy status enjoyed by The Blue Dogs. The roots-rock band has released a bevy of well-received albums, and has toured the country from coast to coast, and even with its travels the band can always count on a warm homecoming welcome from local fans. This Friday Bobby Houck, Hank Futch, Greg Walker and David Stewart will bring their unique brand of Americana music to the Isle of Palms as the Blue Dogs play at The Windjammer. Expect to hear popular original such as "Cosmic Cowboy," "Walter," and "Long Gone Goodbye," along with a few well-chosen covers. The Old Habits open. Tickets for the show are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show, and are available at etix.com. Showtime is 10 p.m.
