N. Charleston police make two drug busts

North Charleston Police recovered nearly $73,000 worth of heroin and cocaine from a house at 2746 East Surrey Street Wednesday. Two men have been charged.

Police made two sizeable drug busts Wednesday after searching two North Charleston homes.

Narcotics officers executed a search warrant at 2765 Houston Street on Wednesday and found 72.5 grams of cocaine base, .7 grams of cocaine and a gun inside the home.

The drugs have a street value of $7,320, according to Spencer Pryor, North Charleston Police public information officer.

Warrants charge Bernard Weiters, Jr., 34, with trafficking cocaine base, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a stolen firearm and possession with intent do distribute cocaine and cocaine base within a half-mile of a school.

Police also searched a home at 2476 East Surrey Street and found 207 grams of heroin worth $72,450 inside.

Warrants charge Howard Scott, 45, of Jersey City, N.J., with trafficking heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin within a half-mile of a school.

Police also found 5.4 grams of cocaine and charged Anthony Brown, 45, of North Charleston with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine within a half-mile of a school.

Bet every charge ends up dropped and the idiot gets probation. How come there is no reporting on the Weiter's prior records, I bet he's probably not a first time offender.
