I don't know what I love about the Fourth of July more, the short work week, the annual picnic with family or the fireworks display when the sun goes down.

Whatever it is, there's just something about July 4th that seems like the official start of summer. Last week's winner, Paul Dunlap, is going up against challenger Sandy King, who's a florist.

QUESTIONS

1. What happened on July 4, 1776, that causes us to celebrate it as a national holiday?

2. Today's U.S. population is more than 300 million. What was the estimated population in 1776?

3. What year did Congress declare July 4th a federal holiday?

4. Which of the following was the King of England when the colonies declared their independence? Edward I, Henry VII, George III or Richard II?

5. In 1776, a man would do what with a tricorn?
