Lowcountry Senior Center
To register for programs at the Lowcountry Senior Center, 865 Riverland Drive, next to James Island County Park, call 762-9555. Hours are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. The center is managed by Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
Lowcountry Blues Bash: 6-8 p.m. Feb. 16. Finale event of the 19th annual Lowcountry Blues Bash will feature a live performance by Sharrie Williams and the Wise Guys. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Lowcountry Senior Center or by calling 762-9555. Seating is limited.
Educational Programs: I-CARE Counseling, 10 a.m.-noon Tuesdays in January. Free appointments are available for members and nonmembers.
My Medicare Matters: 10-11 a.m. Feb. 4 and 5. Learn how to navigate the Medicare maze. Free to members and nonmembers.
Enhance Wellness: January, by appointment. Enhance Wellness is a comprehensive health promotion program assisting people in making changes in their lives. Free for members and $55 for nonmembers.
The Last Lecture: 10-11:30 a.m. Feb. 17. What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? Wellness Manager Aleshia Parrish leads a discussion. Free for members and nonmembers.
Lowcountry Scholars: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Jan. 28. Each session features two speakers with refreshments. Free for members and $5 for nonmembers. Register in advance.
1:30-2:15 p.m.: Megan Westmeyer, Sustainable Seafood Initiative coordinator with the South Carolina Aquarium.
2:30-3:15 p.m.: Ken Burger, writer for The Post and Courier.
WELLNESS
Grief and Depression: 1-2 p.m. Feb. 10. Can you tell the difference between normal grief/bereavement and a major depression? Free to members and nonmembers.
Matter of Balance: 9-11 a.m. Jan. 22-March 12. Many older adults experience concern about falling and as a result restrict their activities. $5 for members and nonmembers.
