Colleton County Collision kills one, injures deputy
One person died in a head-on collision in Colleton County Tuesday night that also injured three others, including a boy and a sheriff's deputy, the S.C. Department of Public Safety said.
A Chevrolet pickup truck and a deputy's patrol car collided at the intersection of Green Pond Highway and Clover Hill Road, press officer Sid Gaulden said.
The driver of the pickup truck, Jake Wright, 47, of Green Pond, and Deputy Scott L. McCoy, 27, both were flown to Medical University Hospital, while emergency medical workers took the boy to Colleton County Regional Medical Center.
Details about the boy and the person who died were not immediately available. Both were passengers in the pickup truck, Gaulden said. A special team from the S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.
