Two female accomplices in the 2006 murder of a carnival worker in a North Charleston motel were sentenced to jail terms today after pleading guilty for their roles in the case.

Sandra C. Barnes, 40, of Summerville, will serve 10 years for armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and forgery.

Alana P. Niesen, 41, of North Charleston, will serve 10 years for armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and crack cocaine possession.

Both testified for the prosecution in the case and there was no negotiated plea in front of Circuit Judge Roger Young.

Carnival worker Robert Vargo was shot in the head during a low-stakes robbery that prosecutors said amounted to an execution in his room. As little as $50 was involved.

The women and two male attackers targeted Vargo at the Budget Inn on Fain Street, authorities said. He'd checked in after working a two-week hitch at the Coastal Carolina Fair. Police contend he was killed for his money, which one of the women knew he kept in his shoe.

The two male participants earlier were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for their roles in the murder and armed robbery.

It is a shame when someone is killed let alone for so little. These women should have received longer sentences. This from someone who had a family member killed several years ago for alot less money in his pocket!
