Former NFL running back Meggett charged with sexual assault
By Glenn Smith
Former NFL running back David Meggett is charged with sexually assaulting a 21-year-old woman in her North Charleston home early Tuesday, his second such arrest while on probation for a 2006 rape in North Carolina, authorities said.
Meggett, 42, had been free on $50,000 bail after an October arrest in North Charleston in which he was accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old on Sept. 26, court records show.
South Carolina probation officials notified their counterparts in North Carolina after that arrest, waiting for some instruction on what they should do about Meggett. They were still waiting for a response, some three months later, when they learned of Tuesday's arrest, said Pete O'Boyle, press officer for the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.
The celebrated receiver, who played 10 seasons in the NFL, was being held late Tuesday in the Charleston County jail on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and first-degree burglary.
Read Wednesday's Post and Courier to learn more about the charges and Meggett's past run-ins with the law.

Evidently continuing to rape wasn't one of the provisions considered a violation of probation.
What's next, anger management classes and go home and be a good boy?

Houston we have a problem! Can we say "above the law"?
This is a Mike Tyson like character that will not get it until the bars close shut behind him.

Don't forget the 2001 arrest in Charleston:
"The Charleston prosecutor's office said Meggett cannot be charged with rape under state law because the woman was drunk."

Though the 2001 Charleston arrest may have been dropped and expunged, as it doesn't appear on the Charleston County Clerk of Court website...
