'STEREOVIEW' LECTURE: 7 p.m. Karpeles Manuscript Museum, 68 Spring St. Free. In connection with the museum's new exhibit, "The Stereoviewer Age," Rick Zender will present a lecture titled "Stereoview: 3-D Imagery Past and Present." Zender will explore the history of the stereoviewer and pass around examples for the audience to experience. 'MASTERWORKS' CONCERT: 7:30 p.m. Simons Center for the Arts, 54 St. Philip St. $35. Charleston Music Fest 2009 kicks off with "Masterworks," a concert by pianist Volodymyr Vynnytsky and violinist Eugene Fodor. The repertoire will include selections by Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Vitali, Ravel and others. A reception will follow. 953-0935.
WYNTON MARSALIS CONCERT AND GALA: 7:30 p.m. Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St. $35-$100 concert; $250 concert and gala. Legendary jazz trumpetist Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will perform. "A Window Into Education" fundraiser gala will be held following the concert at the William Aiken House. MUSIC AND OYSTERS FOR WILDLIFE: 2-6 p.m. Sewee Outpost, 4853 U.S. Highway 17, Awendaw. $30. To raise money for its educational programs, the Southeastern Wildlife and Environmental Education Association will host the Fourth Annual Music and Oysters for Wildlife event, which will feature all-you-can-eat oysters and music by the Blue Dogs, Danielle Howle, Jeff Norwood, Ed Hunnicutt, Cravin' Melon and Doug Jones. Barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, wine and sodas will be available for purchase. The event also will feature kayak and boat cruises and silent and live auctions. 884-7539.

The Mark Sterbank Jazz Group, featuring Quentin Baxter, Fred Wesley, Herman Burney, Tommy Gill and Charlton Singleton, will perform a collection of jazz spirituals and hymns. 863-8041.
MLK JR. CELEBRATION: 4 p.m. Mount Moriah Family Living Center, 7396 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. Free. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra Gospel Choir presents "Perseverance: Where Do We Go From Here: A Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr." The performance will reflect on the legacy of King through music and audio and video footage. 745-1087.
