Harrell to ask for commission audit

Thursday, January 8, 2009

GREENVILLE — The speaker of the South Carolina House says he'll ask the Legislative Audit Council to review the Employment Security Commission.

Bobby Harrell said Tuesday in a meeting with editors and reporters from The Greenville News that he will send a letter next week asking the audit council to review the operations of the commission.

Gov. Mark Sanford was involved in a dispute with the agency last month, in part because he wanted an audit of the agency.

Harrell said he agreed an audit is needed. He also said the agency should be under the governor's control. He said there is no reason for a commission to run the agency.

Good! I know people committing unemployment fraud because its so EASY. That money needs to go to people who really need it and they should tighten up on these losers sucking the system dry.

Golly gee. You think this would have happened without the pressure the Governor put on them? He's been calling for this and the legislature has been thumbing their noses at him.

Who are the idiots that keep electing the likes of Harrell, McConnell and Ford? How about an audit on the $500,000 Harrell made on the Toogadoo land sale to the County! That land was overpriced when the County bought it, I wonder what that land is worth today? Way to help the tax payer Bobby!
