Americans will soon witness a historic presidential inauguration. We want to know what kind of president you think Barack Obama will be. What do you think he'll do? What kind of mark do you think he'll leave on history?

If you are in 7th grade or younger, we'd like you to write an essay telling us your opinion. Send your essay, in 500 words or less, to Brenda Rindge, The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800 or e-mail it to brindge@postandcourier.com with the subject "Obama essay."

Some responses will be printed in an upcoming Family Life section and others will be published at www.charleston.net.

Please be sure to include your name, age, address, grade, school and a daytime phone number of a parent or guardian (not for publication). Include a photo of yourself, such as a school photo, if possible. Photos must be sent as JPG attachments to e-mails. Hard copy photos will not be returned.

The deadline for submissions is noon Monday.
