Executive Editor William E. N. Hawkins will replace Larry Tarleton as publisher of The Post and Courier upon Tarleton's retirement March 31.

The announcement of the change was made today by Dan Herres, president of Evening Post Publishing Newspaper Group.

"This is a new era for our company and I think Hawkins is the ideal choice to lead our newspaper at a time of unprecedented innovation and change," Herres said. "His leadership skills and impressive news background matches our goal of assuring that The Post and Courier will remain the trusted and dominant source of news and information in the Lowcountry," Herres said.

[The Post and Courier will (remain?) the trusted and dominant source of news and information in the Lowcountry]

For the President of the Post and Courier to make such a 'head in the sand' statement, it would indicate the wrong person retired and replaced.

Here's a hint: When you have a product that you can't GIVE away to increase your sales, it's time to think you may be charging too much for too little.
