MONCKS CORNER — The Berkeley County School District's new superintendent will begin in mid-March.
PROVIDED
Anthony Parker will move to Berkeley County in March to begin his job as schools superintendent.
Anthony Parker, who is currently serving as superintendent for Johnston County schools in North Carolina, has been released from his contract early. Parker, 58, had already announced he was retiring from that position effective June 1 before Berkeley County offered him the position earlier this month.
Parker will replace retiring Superintendent Chester Floyd, whose last day is Jan. 19. The Berkeley County School Board has already appointed Deputy Superintendent Archie Franchini as interim superintendent beginning Jan. 20.
Parker, the district's first superintendent from out of state, was chosen over a field of 80 applicants from 29 states.
He has accepted a three-year contract worth $195,000 per year.
