One-car crash kills Conway couple

GEORGETOWN — A Conway couple has died after the car they were in ran off the road and hit a tree.

Troopers told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that the one-car crash happened when the driver of the car tried to pass another vehicle on U.S. Highway 701 around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said the driver, 70-year-old Thomas "Ed" Cook, died several hours after the wreck at the hospital. His wife, 63-year-old Sharon Cook, died at the scene.
