Former state Treasurer Thomas Ravenel's co-defendant has been released from the Florida prison where he had been serving time on federal cocaine charges, the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed.
Ravenel and Michael L. Miller of Mount Pleasant were serving similar 10-month terms after being sentenced in March to one count of conspiracy with intent to distribute cocaine.
Miller arrived at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex in central Florida on May 27, said Linda Thomas, a Bureau of Prisons public affairs specialist. The 27-year-old left the facility on Monday, Thomas said, and has no probation.
Ravenel reported to a lockup in Jesup, Ga., on May 29, but in early December moved to a halfway house in North Charleston, federal prison officials and his attorney have said. He was expected to transition back to his old business as a commercial real estate developer.
Ravenel, a Republican elected in 2006, was indicted by a federal grand jury in June of the following year. Federal authorities have described Miller, a deejay, as his drug supplier. They said that Ravenel shared the drug but did not sell it.
