Gamecocks meet
Tony Morrell will speak to the Charleston County Gamecock Club at its March 2 meeting at The Point Grill (Shrine Temple at Patriot's Point).
Morrell will provide statistics, details and highlights of each Gamecock recruit from the recent class.
Happy hour and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a business session at 6 p.m. Morrell will begin his presentation at 6:30.
Admission is $10 for nonmembers and $5 for members. Bring your membership card.

On the water
A new boating course will be taught by the United States Sail and Power Squadron by master captains and certified instructors. Classroom and on-the-water sessions will cover boat handling, docking, harbor navigation, electronic use and much more. Classes will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays.

Golf tourney
Respite Care Ministries will hold its annual fundraising golf tournament March 23 at Seabrook Island.
Respite Care, which holds programs at four locations in Charleston, Mount Pleasant and on Johns Island, provides respite care for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.
Registration for the golf tournament is at 11 a.m. with a putting contest at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The first 144 golfers to register will be accepted. Entry fee is $125 per golfer, $80 of which is tax-deductible, and includes greens fee, cart, on-course refreshments and an awards reception with heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine.
