Street shut down after gas leak

Tuesday, December 29, 2009



A gas leak caused by a construction crew shut down part of a downtown block for several hours Monday.

Charleston firefighters blocked off Nunan Street between Killians and President streets between 11:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. after construction crews hit a small gas line, said Mark Ruppel, public information officer for the Fire Department.

No one was evacuated from the area, he said.
