Favorite actors return for soap's anniversary

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Longtime "All My Children" fans will have a hard time waiting until the soap's 40th anniversary shows in January 2010 after reading the following.

Many of the favorite actors from the past will be returning for the Jan. 4 and 5 episodes.

Among them: Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who played Hayley and Mateo Santos until leaving in 2002. They played lovers on the show, ended up falling in love in real life and were married in 1996. The duo will have taped their scenes before the move to Los Angeles.

As anyone who watches daytime television knows, Ripa began co-hosting "Live with Regis and Kelly" while she was still appearing on "AMC." Consuelos was a regular panelist during weekly discussions on "Opera."

Also returning Jan. 5 are Julia Barr (Brooke), last seen in 2006; Eva LaRue (Maria), gone since 2005; Laurence Lau (Greg), last seen in 2008; Taylor Miller (Nina), away since 1995; Leven Rambin (Lily), who last appeared in late 2008; and Eden Riegel (Bianca), who also returned briefly in 2008.
