Pastor still working, despite arrest

A pastor at a North Charleston church who was arrested last week on drug charges continued to work in his congregations Sunday, a spokeswoman said.

Bishop Brian Moore, 47, who locally ministers at Life Center Cathedral Church in North Charleston, was arrested Thursday by police in Charlotte.

He faces three charges, including one felony drug charge and two misdemeanors that include possession of a marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Arrest information did not include what drug was involved in the felony count.

Moore is a pastor at Life Center on Cross County Road. He pastors two churches, including one in Charlotte. Membership at the North Charleston church is about 700.

Charlotte police records indicate Moore was picked up outdoors near a hotel or motel. His address is listed as Davidson, N.C., where he has an unlisted phone number. Moore posted $3,250 bail and was released from a Mecklenburg County, N.C., detention center.

In a statement released to the news media, Moore said he was holding off on discussing the incident on advice from counsel.

"What I can say is that I have fully cooperated with law enforcement officials and believe in the fairness of the judicial process," the statement reads. "Although the wheels of justice often move slowly, I have full faith that this incident will ultimately be resolved favorably."

He added, "until such time I will continue to serve as pastor of Life Center Ministries and will continue to be a good husband and father to my wife and children."
