Items stolen from apartments
A Charleston man was accused of stealing clothes, a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, sunglasses, a calculator and a two bicycles from a Wraggborough apartment complex Sunday night.
Charleston police were called to a Judith Street apartment shortly before 10 p.m. A resident reported that someone had come into the lobby of the apartment building and was stealing bicycles. The thief also took a TV, clothing and other electronic goods from at least two of the apartments in the building, police were told.
The victims told police they watched through a window as the man rode away from the building on the second stolen bicycle.
Officers quickly located a man on Judith Street who matched the suspect's description and was riding one of the stolen bicycles, according to police reports.
Steven Lakeith Simmons, 44, of Cannon Street was charged with first-degree burglary and grand larceny, police public information officer Charles Francis said.
