Will Ferrell's 'Old School' will be shown for free at 9 p.m. Saturday at Cinebarre.

With so many unique movie theaters in the Lowcountry, it had been a while since I had visited Cinebarre in Mount Pleasant. On a recent trip with a friend to see the new independent movie 'The Hurt Locker' I was reminded of just what a treat the theater/eatery was.

You can find out what treasures the theater holds this Saturday as Cinebarre will show the hilarious comedy 'Old School' for free at 9 p.m. A cookout, featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, chips and cookies will start at 8:30 p.m.

Cinebarre customers are advised to arrive early so they can order from a menu that includes pizza, sandwiches, appetizers and then some. To date, I have had the 'Italian Job' pizza and the 'Three Amigos' tacos and I enjoyed both. On the night of my recent visit, my friend had the 'Blue Velvet Burger' (bleu cheese, buffalo sauce) and really liked it. For movie traditionalists, Cinebarre's popcorn is also very good and is served with or without butter in a stainless steel bowl just like you were snacking on the couch.

The system of ordering makes dining while movie watching not the least bit intrusive. Cards are provided where customers write down menu items and the wait staff quietly picks up the order. I love that each chair is provided with a roll of paper towels so you never have to go looking for napkins and miss parts of the movie.

Cinebarre also serves beer and wine seven days a week as well as margaritas. The bar area in the lobby is perfect for having drinks before or after a movie and wait staff is quick and attentive. Being able to consume adult beverages during the movie is also nice.

I love movies and I love good food. In combining both, Cinebarre provides a unique theater experience. I won't make myself such a stranger in the future.
