Kala Goodwine

Age: 34.

Family: Mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Goodwine Jr.; sister, Alexandria Goodwine; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Glover, and Frances Goodwine.

Experience: Teacher, Holly Hill Middle,Walterboro and Summerville high schools; assistant principal, Morningside Middle; principal, Morningside Middle; summer food service program coordinator.

Education: Bachelor of Science, mathematics education, S.C. State University; Master of Education, secondary administration, The Citadel; Educational Specialist, school superintendency, The Citadel.

Why I wanted to go into education: Education is the bridge that connects potential and opportunity. I want to be a part of the process that allows children to experience the endless possibilities in life.

Something I've always wanted to learn: How to drive a motorcycle.

Something important life has taught me: The most important components of success are fervent faith, a positive attitude and the willingness to passionately pursue your goals.

Something most people don't know about me: I like to sing karaoke and dance at home in the family room.

Something my parents always told me: Manners will take you where money won't.

Fond childhood memory: Driving into a tree while attempting to parallel park.

One specific goal I hope to accomplish this school year: Provide a supportive school community where young ladies are engaged and feel empowered to think critically while developing innovative leadership skills and good character.
