Ott backs Sheheen in governor's race
House Minority Leader Harry Ott, D-St. Matthews, said Tuesday that he won't run for governor and will back state Sen. Vincent Sheheen's bid instead.
"On the issues that will define the success or failure of our next governor, particularly creating good jobs and revitalizing our public schools, Vincent Sheheen (D-Camden) is the candidate with the independence, experience and vision to move South Carolina forward," Ott said in a statement.
Ott and Sheheen served together in the state House from 2001 to 2004.
