The SMAF/Hooters Summer Scorcher Series car show will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hooters of North Charleston next to Northwoods Mall. Sponsors are the Southern Mustang and Ford Club and Hooters restaurant. Registration is $10. Classes are Mustang 1964-78, 1979-93, 1994-2004 and 2005-10; Ford Motor Co., which includes other Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars; General Motors, which includes GMC, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn and Cadillac cars; Chrysler, which includes Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth cars; Corvette 1953-82 C1, 2, and 3 and 1984-2009 C4, 5 and 6; trucks, which include pickup, SUV and Jeep; Hummer; Rods, which include rat rod, hot rod, street rod, A-Rod; imports, except Ford of Canada; and motorcycles. Shows are the third Saturday of the month. Future dates include Sept. 19. October will be a charity show with proceeds going to breast cancer research. Charleston-Lowcountry Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America and Joe Bessingers Bar B Que will host their monthly Open Car Truck & Motorcycle Show, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 1114 College Park Road in Summerville. Registration is $5. Classes are street rods, cars, trucks, motorcycles, imports, Corvettes, Mustangs and lowriders/tuners. Years are 1900-42, 1943-59, 1960-72 and 1973-2009. Sept. 2
An Open Car, Truck & Motorcycle show will be held 6-9 p.m. at Bessinger’s BBQ, 1602 Savannah Highway. Registration is $5. There are three trophies per class. Classes include street rods; trucks; motorcycles; and cars for years 1900-42, 1943-59, 1960-71 and 1972-2009. Music is by The Cruise-O-Matics. Sept. 19
Lowcountry Travelers Car Club of Mount Pleasant will host its annual car show 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Wando Crossing Shopping Center in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Classes include years 1900-74 (motorcycles are included). The registration fee is $15. Trophies will be awarded in all classes plus Best of Show. Coastal Carolina Corvette Club will present the Marchant Chevrolet Open Car, Bike & Truck Show, sponsored by Marchant Chevrolet, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is $10 per vehicle and will begin at 11 a.m. at Marchant Chevrolet in Ravenel, 5700 Savannah Highway (U.S. Highway 17). Thirty trophies will be awarded by class size, participant judging and Sponsor’s Choice. Classes are Corvettes; motorcycles; sport compact; Mustangs; street rods; trucks; and years 1900-62, 1963-71, 1972-89 and 1990-present. Proceeds to benefit Camp Happy Days.
