More stimulus money comes for Dorchester roads

ST. GEORGE — Dorchester County officials had all the optimism of wide-eyed kids with a Christmas list when they sat U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn in the seat at the center of the podium and presented nearly $60 million of projects they hoped to see federal stimulus money fund. Money to improve U.S. Highway 78 was the first thing they asked for.

This week they got it. The S.C. Department of Transportation Commission moved $500,000 in stimulus money from the Steed Creek Road project in Berkeley County to the U.S. 78 project.
