COLUMBIA — South Carolina officials say receiver Dion LeCorn but should be ready to take the field in time for this year's season after breaking his leg during the Gamecocks' spring game.

Athletic spokesman Steve Fink said Tuesday doctors expect LeCorn to be healed and ready to play by the time the Gamecocks open their season Sept. 3 at North Carolina State.

LeCorn had surgery on his left leg Saturday after he was injured on the final play of the Gamecocks' spring game.

The junior moved to defense last season but returned to receiver during the offseason and earned a starting spot.
