Man charged with murder in death of Summerville man

WALTERBORO — Colleton County Sheriff's deputies have charged a man with murder in connection with an early Tuesday morning shooting that left a Summerville man dead.
A warrant charges Jimmie Lee Garland, Jr., 37, of 1631 Featherbed Road in Round O with murder in the death of Michael Ray Trappier at a rural Colleton County mobile home park.
Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey said Trappier, 31, of 110 Miley Road in Summerville died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
Deputies responded to 75 Pennsylvania Ave. at 4:44 a.m. and found Trappier in the yard with the gunshot wound. Colleton County Fire and Rescue paramedics performed CPR on Trappier but he was pronounced dead at the scene, said Colleton County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ted Stanfield.
