Cajun Festival among Preview's best weekend bets

Long Live Art exhibit at Muddy Waters
South Carolinian native Tyler Ann Blanton is returning to the state of her roots after seven years of studying and working as a fine artist abroad in Italy and getting published in a number of Italian magazines. Final weekend of Pure Theatre's 'Hogs'
Based on Henrik Ibsen's "An Enemy of the People," Rodney Lee Rogers' adaptation updates the action to a small, coastal, southern town, in "Hogs," produced by Pure Theatre. The story follows the work of Dr. Stockman-Kelly as she discovers that contamination of the local water table is directly related to nearby hog production.
Performances will take place 7:30 p.m. tonight through Saturday at Lance Hall at Circular Congregational Church, 150 Meeting Street, downtown. Tickets are $30 for all seats and can be bought by calling the box office at 723-4444, 1-800-838-3006 or by visiting www.puretheatre.org.

'The Hills Have Thighs' film premiere
Bubba Cromer's "The Hills Have Thighs: An Appalachian Comedy" will be shown for the first time at 4 and 7 p.m. Saturday at The Olde Village Talking Picture House in Park Circle, 1080 East Montague in North Charleston. Tickets are $5 for non-members of The Greater Park Circle Film Society.

Lowcountry Cajun Festival
Celebrate Louisiana living and Charleston charm during the Lowcountry Cajun Festival at James Island County Park. Enjoy a full-day of Zydeco music, Cajun and Creole foods, children's activities and all around ragin' Cajun entertainment! Local and regional chefs cook up a variety of mouth-watering tastes of authentic Cajun and Creole faire. No outside food or beverages allowed. Pets are not permitted.
Noon-6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.

New Music Collective Fundraiser
The New Music Collective is a small organization that devotes its resources to bringing programming to our local community. The event features live music from Morimoto, Quentin Baxter, The Opposite of a Train, Slowrunner and The NMC Ensemble. Food, beer and wine will be available. Silent auction items include works by Nathan Durfee and Molly Hayes, personal chef services by Maya Morrill, sweets by Sugar Bakeshop, tickets to JAC Jazz events and more.
The fundraiser will be 7-11 p.m. April 9 at Eye Level Art Warehouse, 2143 Heriot St., Suite F, downtown. Admission is $30 each or $50 for two. The $100 VIP package includes reserved seating at the event and a gift package with CD's and hand-printed art.

28 Day Film Festival screening
Mark your calendar and come by the Tin Roof from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday as The Post and Courier presents a public screening of all entries received for the 28 Day Film Contest. All ages are welcome, but some of the entries deal with mature themes. Refreshments will be served. The Tin Roof is at 1117 Magnolia Road in West Ashley
