Bookends
About 36,000 Harry Potter bookends, made in Hong Kong and imported by Giftco Inc., because the paint on the bookends contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by children. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The recalled bookends, which are painted and shaped into characters of the Harry Potter book series, were sold at elementary school fund-raising programs and discount and dollar stores nationwide from June 2004 through January 2006. Lights
About 30,000 Gotham compact fluorescent downlights, made in the U.S. and China by Gotham Lighting, because the relay on the light's backup battery could be programmed incorrectly and prevent the lights from functioning in an emergency. No injuries have been reported. The recall involves recessed ceiling lights sold by electrical distributors and sales representatives nationwide from November 2007 through July 2008. TV stands
About 48,600 television stands, made in China and distributed by Studio RTA, because they do not meet industry standards to prevent them from tipping over. No incidents have been reported. Coolers
About 7,200 Igloo Marine Elite coolers, manufactured in the United States and China by Igloo Products Corp., because the latches have sharp edges. The company has received eight reports of cuts that required stitches. The coolers were sold at West Marine stores around the country between January and July 2008. Toy cars
About 3,000 toy police cars, made in China and imported by TCB Imports, because the product's red paint has high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by children. No injuries or incidents have been reported. The recall involves toy cars that build momentum when pushed forward and then move on their own when released. The recalled toys, with the item No. TF820, were sold at dollar and discount stores nationwide from May through August. Details: by phone at 888-674-5497; on the Web at www.tcbimports.com.
Seeds
Fine Land Corp. is recalling Ying Feng Foodstuffs Brand Pumpkin Seeds because the product contains undeclared sulfites, which could cause a severe or life-threatening reaction in people who have sulfite allergies. No illnesses have been reported, according to the New York company. The pumpkin seeds, distributed nationwide, were sold in 10-ounce, clear plastic packages with the code EXP 03 25 2010.
